Advice a global offshore service provider on the effectiveness of the proposed organizational changes, a second opinion on the strategic document and verify market developments in the North Sea.


Our client strives to be a leading global provider of knowledge-based asset integrity services in the Oil & Gas, Chemical and Power sectors. Our client is active in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, continental Europe, North-, Central- and South America, Africa, Middle-East and Asia Pacific. JBR’s assignment included the division mainly active in the United Kingdom and Africa.

Customer's dilemma

Given the market developments in the North Sea, our client wanted to know whether they have the right vision on these developments and how customers and competitors react on these developments. In addition, our client was looking for the skills needed to meet customer demand. Our client had proposed a new organizational structure. The question for JBR was if the selected organizational structure is the best structure to achieve the formulated strategy and what alternative organizational structures are possible. Finally, the blind sports in the vision, strategy and organizational structure of our client have been identified.

Our contribution

Based on a thorough analysis of the organization and its various products and services, JBR advised to broaden and deepen the organizational matrix and gradually implement this matrix across the organization. In addition, JBR advised to set up a separate department for fabric maintenance and to hire additional managers. JBR also advised to acquire other companies and/or services in order to achieve growth.

The result

Our client intends to follow the advice of JBR. Given the impact of the proposed changes, this will happen in phases.
